Our brilliant journalist apprentices and diploma students have been shortlisted 17 times in the 2024 NCTJ Awards for Excellence.
TalkSPORT’s Reuben Threfall is up for Sports Journalism Trainee, while the BBC’s Jonathan Addai and Bloomberg’s Isabella Ward are competing for Top Scoop.
Charlotte McDonald, from BBC News, is shortlisted for Features of the Year, while Isabella achieves her second nomination for Data Journalism Trainee.
Another talkSPORT apprentice, Dell Goonetillake is up for Podcast of the Year.
Two more BBC apprentices are in the Videojournalism category – Simran Sohhal (BBC News) and Lydia Wilson (BBC South).
In the specialist categories, our apprentice journalists have excelled.
Grace Wheeler, from BBC Sport and Lydia Wilson (her second nomination) are shortlisted for the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Award.
Floris De Bruin and Imogen Garfinkel have been nominated for Student of the Year.
And lastly, five out of the seven finalists for Level 5 Apprentice of the Year, have been trained by PA Media Academy.

This award has been won by PA Media Academy trained apprentices for the last three years in a row, including last year’s Amrit Singh Mann from Sky Sports News.
Winners will be announced at the NCTJ Awards for Excellence ceremony later this year.
