Delighted to see PA Media Academy scoop three of the top prizes at the NCTJ Awards for Excellence.
Former Academy fast-track student Izzie Addison, who currently works as a General Reporter in the PA Media newsroom, won Student of the Year. Her outstanding results included eight As in her exams and 100wpm shorthand.

Former apprentice Alex Osborne, who works for the BBC, took first place in the Level 5 Apprentice of the Year category. The achievement was all the more remarkable because the final shortlist of six included five apprentices from the Academy – all excellent in their own right.

Joe Harston, an apprentice from The Times currently studying for his NCTJ Diploma at the Academy, was delighted to be crowned Trainee Sports Journalist of the year by Mark Alford, the Director of Sky Sports News.

It was also amazing to see Elli Hodgson, KentOnline, and a former fast-track journalist, shortlisted in two categories, and Mary Neale Smith, currently with CNN, made the shortlist for student of the year.

More than 550 nominations were received for the awards, which were hosted in The Dome in Brighton.
Congratulations to everyone who made the shortlists and won the ultimate prizes.
You were amazing….
