News Writing Advanced: Writing With Clarity and Press Conference Workshop
Report with clarity, no matter how complex the story, and test your skills with a real-time simulated news conference
This four-hour news reporter course helps you develop your newsgathering skills, put them into action, and receive feedback from an editor.
What You’ll Learn: Making complex concepts simple, using case studies, how press conferences work
The best reporters make complex topics simple – it’s what elevates their news stories and helps them cut through. We’ll look at how to make confusing concepts clear, and transform dense information into engaging copy that is easy-to-read and tailored to your audience. You’ll learn how to make the most of complicated quotes from interviews or press conferences on tricky subjects and we’ll get you thinking and acting like a sub-editor to transform your writing.
You’ll also be asked to put your reporting skills into action: you’ll be plunged you into a real-time news conference, and asked to produce a brilliant story from the information you glean from it. By simulating a situation that journalists often find themselves in, you’ll understand how well you can think on your feet in a pressurised situation.
How you’ll learn
This two-module news reporter course will be led by an experienced editor and trainer who will share their practical expertise through presentations, discussion and practical exercises – ensuring you have opportunity to reinforce your learning, test your understanding and receive feedback
